If you have noticed that food on your plates or bowls are not as shiny and clean as they used to be, it's time to investigate why your dishwasher doesn't effectively clean your dishes.

Repairing your dishwasher that doesn't clean your dishes can be as easy as reassessing the soap you're using. You can run a regular cycle of soap on the dishes or you can buy a "dishwasher cleaner" that simply puts soap dispensers into the dispenser. How to clean your dishwasher with vinegar: Simply put a cup of vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher, place it on the top shelf and keep it hot. If it's been a while since you've cleaned a dishwasher (and, ahem, never had to), fill the cup with white distilled vinegar and let the cycle run again.

Dishwashers must have a steady flow of hot water to function and clean properly. It is also a good idea to turn on the hot water in the sink before turning on the dishwasher, but this is not necessary.

If your dishwasher does not get enough water, it will not be able to hold enough hot water to remove leftover food from the dishes. It is possible that the dishwashers do not get enough heat to melt the food on the plate, but not enough to clean everything.
